dining on burlap

over the weekend, we hosted some friends for brunch. i wanted something simple yet festive for table decor. in a matter of maybe 20 minutes, i whipped up this simple burlap table runner {cut to size then run a straight stitch along all four sides then pull burlap edges to fray} and wrapped two votive holders in contrasting burlap. cost = $0. everything was already in my stash from other projects. simple is the key for me. add some red ranunculus {$2.99 at trader joes!}, red hemstitch linen napkins, a few covered votive holders and the table is complete. i served brunch buffet-style which is why my silverware is set untraditionally and drink glasses are missing. my entertaining rule: enjoy the party as much as your guests do. i did. i keep my table decorations simple, always.

ps for those wondering about stains and spilling on burlap, buy dryel. it comes with a liquid stain remover that is awesome {seriously, i use it all the time}. put a rag under your stain on the burlap, douse your stain, add a tiny bit of water and let sit overnight. when you wake up, your stain will be gone and it'll look brand-new.
